Member Artist Demonstration Event

Rye Art Study Event

From Stroll Magazine, Rye, NH, December edition

Rye Art Study has been a fixture in the Seacoast community since the mid-sixties. The group has always embraced artists, art, and all its forms.

Exploring, interpreting, and creating art are different for each artist.

Please join Rye Art Study on February 19th from 9:30 to 11:30 and meet some of the member artists.  They will have some of their work for you to see and will also be demonstrating their chosen art medium.  Come, ask questions, and hear what inspires the RAS artists in their interpretations.

PAT DUBOIS - PASTEL PAINTER

duboisp@comcast.net

Pastels are sticks of pure pigment.  They are messy but can be used to create beautiful paintings.  I’m still learning.  If you love art with color, texture, and variety, I suggest you try pastels, too!

CAROL SANBORN - BASKET MAKING/WEAVING

crsanborn@yahoo.com

The creative process of weaving with different widths and shapes of reed, dying my reed and trying new techniques.  My teacher encouraged me to begin teaching as well.  Since then, I have taught in a variety of venues.  My former teacher, now mentor, continues to inspire me by introducing new ideas and challenges for which I am grateful.

DAVE TURBIDE – PAINTER

dave@daveturbide.com

Favorite subjects include seacoast scenes – fishing shacks, boats and piers, waves breaking over rocks, seagulls, and dunes – with breaks for New Hampshire.

Scenery.  A believer in lifelong learning, Dave takes advantage of classes and workshops to enhance his experience and introduce media, techniques, and knowledge of the art of painting.

LAURA KING – PAINTER

My work has always been inspired by my love of the ocean.  More recent works in cold wax and oil are scenes of lovers, families and children walking along and playing in the beaches of Rye and north Hampton, NH, particularly in the early evening in the glow of the sunset.

LISA YOUNG – PAINTER

Lisayoungart@gmail.com

Lisayoungart.com

The surrounding coastline and expansive saltwater marshes provide endless inspiration for her artwork.  Her loose, abstract oil paintings feature soft, relaxing colors.

Art is my therapy; I like to imagine the tranquility I feel being passed to anyone who enjoys my art.

DENISE MANSEAU – WOODBLOCK PRINTS/HAND-CUT KYOSEISHI PAPER

ddmanseau@gmail.com

denisemanseau.com

My drawings, paintings, and cut-paper structures explore constantly changing relationships in the environment.  Wind, light, and water bring these temporal experiences into tangible form.

BOB RICHARDSON – PAINTER

bbr4@comcast.net

Robert Richardson paints to capture a moment or a place with the intention of imprinting his feelings for that place or moment.  Using Cezanne’s palette of eight colors, Richardson’s paintings are rich with color, space, light, and bold lines.
