Rye Art Study Group Hosts Lisa Grey

Lisa is intrigued by the colors, patterns and textures formed by nature, particularly the physical marks and metamorphosis generated by living things and inanimate objects. For many years, her camera has functioned as her sketchbook, recording ideas for future reference. She also collects discarded metal objects whose surfaces have been colored and altered by the elements. Lisa integrates the gathered elements into the landscape of the work by using them to physically pattern her raw materials through natural dyeing and rust printing. Nails and rusted bottle caps found on her daily walks are also often incorporated into the finished work.
