Garden Shrine by Lauren Pollaro Jewelry Pin by Lauren Pollaro Enamel Pendant by Lauren Pollaro. | Rye Art Study Group Hosts Lauren Pollaro JOIN THE RYE ART STUDY GROUP ON MONDAY, APRIL 15TH FROM 9:30 TO 11 A.M. IN WELCOMING OUR APRIL FEATURED ARTIST, LAUREN POLLARO. FASCINATED BY COLOR AND CREATING HARMONY FROM DISPARATE MATERIALS, LAUREN’S MIXED-MEDIA JEWELRY AND WALL ART INCORPORATES METALS, PAPERS, PAINT AND FOUND OBJECTS. LAUREN ENJOYS EXPRESSING HER CREATIVITY THROUGH VARIOUS COLLAGE AND ASSEMBLAGE TECHNIQUES. SHE PLACES SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON HOW COLOR, TEXTURE, FORM, MATERIAL AND TECHNIQUE INTERACT IN HER WORK. NOT ONLY INSPIRED BY DYNAMIC COLORS, LAUREN ALSO DRAWS INSPIRATION FROM CREATING WORK WITH MATERIALS THAT ARE UNEXPECTED AND NOT TYPICALLY USED FOR MAKING ART. SHE FINDS IT SATISFYING TO HARMONIZE THE CHAOS OF SO MANY DISPARATE MATERIALS. THE CREATIVE PROCESS BEHIND EACH OF LAUREN’S ONE-OF-A-KIND WORKS, WHETHER JEWELRY OR WALL SCULPTURE, OFTEN BEGINS WITH A SINGLE ELEMENT THAT SPARKS AN IDEA. SHE THEN LAYERS, BUILDS AND EXPERIMENTS ON THAT THOUGHT BY MANIPULATING VARIOUS MATERIALS TO CREATE DEPTH, DIMENSION, SPATIAL RELATIONSHIPS AND COLOR COMBINATIONS THAT SPEAK TO HER. THE COMPOSITIONS ARE ABSTRACT BUT MAY SUGGEST SOMETHING FAMILIAR SUCH AS A LANDSCAPE OR ARCHITECTURE. HER DESIGN AND COLOR SENSE IS INTUITIVE AND THE PROCESS IS SPONTANEOUS. GROWING UP WITH A FAMILY OF ACCOMPLISHED ARTISTS, LAUREN WAS CONTINUALLY INSPIRED. AFTER GRADUATING FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAMPSHIRE WITH A FINE ARTS DEGREE, SHE BECAME AN ART DIRECTOR FOR SEVERAL MAGAZINES. OVER THE YEARS, LAUREN HONED HER TECHNIQUES AND EVOLVED INTO AN AWARD WINNING JEWELER AND ASSEMBLAGE ARTIST. HAVING BEEN FEATURED IN SEVERAL PUBLICATIONS, LAUREN’S WORK CAN BE FOUND IN GALLERIES THROUGHOUT NEW ENGLAND. Red Necklace by Lauren Pollaro Visit Lauren's website at laurenpollarojewelry.com |
